Month: September

Day 1:

My partner and I caught the train from Munich to Innsbruck (~ 2 hours) and arrived at 6pm. We walked 20 minutes from the train station to our accommodation, which was a lovely Airbnb shared with other travellers. It offered stunning views of the mountains. We walked to the local grocery store and cooked dinner in the kitchen.

Day 2:

I started my day with off a scenic run along the river, which took me through cornfields and forest. If you like cycling, this is a perfect route for you. After enjoying breakfast, we left around 11:30am. We walked to the ‘Congress station’ where we got a cable car to the ‘Top of Innsbruck’ (40 euro each). We stopped via ‘Hungerburg’, then ‘Seegrube’, then ‘Hafelekar’ at the very top (2,256m above sea level). We walked to the very peak of the mountain and throughout various trails, which were very quiet and offered magnificent 360° views. We watched in awe of people rock climbing up the mountains and paragliding through the valleys.

Everyone we passed on the trails were absolutely lovely. We picked a spot on the trails to eat the sandwiches we packed, then got the cable car down to ‘Hungerburg’ around 4pm, where we decided to walk the rest of the way to the centre. We walked to a SPAR, picked up some groceries and went back to the accommodation. After cooking dinner, we had an early night.

Day 3:

I woke up at 7am, went for lovely run along the river, and enjoyed breakfast on the balcony with the gorgeous views of the mountains. After getting ready, we checked out of the Airbnb at 10am. We walked to ‘Maria-Theresien-Straße’ – which was a street lined with colourful buildings and bustling with people. We then walked to the train station to board the 11:24am train to Verona (Italy).
